❥ Folkmore Roles & Attributes
Skills:
- Knows some low-level cooking; hasn't practiced much after her sisters left her
- Skilled in combat, primarily uses a single chakram on a chain. Has previously used a short sword and spear with little difficulty.
- Able to ride a dragon; easier when dragon is cooperative however.
- literate and able to read books and maps
Canon Abilities:
For a general idea of what One is capable of, this wikia link on Intoner's is provided. But here are the unique abilities related to One, or ones she has demonstrated and the others haven't.
- Enhanced 5 Senses - Every Intoner aside from Zero possessed a unique trait of theirs that kept increasing over time. In One's case, her five senses continued to grow. Her eyesight allowed her to spot easily missable details, like in the manga when Three was trying to hide something. Her sense of touch has grown enough that clothes are a bit uncomfortable. Her sense of hearing grew enough that she can hear others from far away, but also can give her headaches during large events like a parade. And her sense of taste grew so severe, that her diet/favorite thing is now just water as food or drinks carrying too much flavor will be too much for her to handle. In the game and side story, she has been able to adjust well to these changes to the point where they are not much of a hindrance. However, that's mostly because she has no choice. Her sense of sight also isn't bad enough that too much light is a bad thing for her eyes.
- Retaining Youth - Despite starting off life as a child (about 10 years, maybe younger), she rapidly grew into her current self in the span of two years. The Flower accelerated her growth speed, along with her other sisters besides Zero, and keeps them at the prime age where their bodies are physically the strongest. One had a different method for growing up, for when her sisters were in trouble and in order to defend herself, she used her Power of Song to erect a barrier to protect herself and Gabriella. Just as her child form was about to buckle from the stress of the onslaught, she pushed herself further, accelerating her age closer to Zero's (about 18-20).
However, due to the Pact made with Gabriella, which cost her time/years of her physical appearance, she appears as the physically smallest of her sisters and could never attain her adult form again until the Pact was broken upon her death.
- The Pact/Summoning - Beings in One's world are able to form a pact with beings like fairies and dragons, in which both parties able to gain greater power, and even heal from near death states, like Caim and Angelus in the first Drakengard game, or when Zero uses a pact to ensure Mikhail lives on after he succumbs to poison. However, a downside is that should one being of the pact die, so will the other. Pacts can be ended by either party however, shown in Route C of Drakengard 3 when Gabriel dies, yet One is still alive. Or within the original Drakengard and its Route C, where Angelus ends the pact with Caim before they fight. A pact however comes with a cost. In Caim's case, it was his voice. For One, it was her time, reverting her to a younger age.
In One's case, she formed a pact with a dragon named Gabriella, and later through magical means, transformed her into a Daemon Dragon named Gabriel. However, due to One technically dying, she has lost her Pact with Gabriel and is unable to summon him at all. She could also summon an Angel named Abdiel, who are a set of golems who could vanish and hide from their foes before striking. However, due to dying and losing the Flower, Abdiel is unable to be summoned.
Role: Myth
Role Qualities/Attributes: Horns on her head, poking just a bit away from her headband, as seen here.
Role Reasoning:
Despite One's selfless intentions in her crusade, her selfish desires grow far more prominent once she allowed her sisters to freely kill far more people with no repercussions. Given how the world grows worse thanks to her sisters and giving them no repercussions, along with the amount of soldiers/monsters she throws at Zero with reckless abandon, it's hard to really see One in a good light and earning the Legend role right away. She only took responsibility in the sense that she needs to kill Zero to save the world. But her plan was assumed her idea would be better than Zero, which more often than not, isn't and has resulted in even worse timelines, like the original Drakengard and the much worse manga timeline where her brother's life is The Worst. However, the idea isn't to permanently keep her as Myth, and it's being done so she can eventually try to work herself up to a Legend, into the person she wants to see herself as..
❥ Revised History
The world of Drakengard is cruel, set in a medieval world with occasional advances in technology like battleships. It's a world filled with fantasy elements like faeries, dragons, magic, etc. Many beings are filled with malevolence, seeking pure destruction of all life, like the Flower.
One, like her sisters Two through Five, was created when Zero, infested by an eldritch parasitic Flower, attempted to kill herself instead of letting herself be used. Alas, not only did the Flower not let Zero die, but it created five sisters for Zero, likely to try and weaken her spirit and will to fight with loving sisters. However, Zero wasn’t going to be fooled so easily, and tried to kill all of them. The girls ended up fleeing and traveling across the world, heading for the Mercurius Gate, hoping to find knowledge and power to deal with Zero. All the while, One took the role as the eldest sister among the five, taking care of her family and protecting them often. During their travels, she even befriended a dragon by the name of Gabriella, viewing her as a true friend over time as they saved one another from powerful threats. A dangerous man known as Baltus however forced Gabriella to sacrifice her sanity, becoming a Daemon Dragon to defeat him. Defying all the odds, One created a Pact with Gabriella, and reversed the process.
Afterwards, with the lords killed within the Mercurius Gate, the sisters began to divide and take over the territories. While cementing her rule, One spent the majority of her time in the library of the Grand Cathedral, trying to find any information on the Intoners. As she did so, she didn't reunite with her sisters until a year later, only knowing what they were up to thanks to reports from Gabriella. Due to the loneliness, she managed to create a clone through a rib in her body, a brother also named One, training him in case the worst should happen. She would also transform Gabriella into a Daemon Dragon under her control, at Gabriella’s request due to Zero being so strong, changing her into Gabriel.
One would later reunite with her sisters to push back Zero, even summoning Gabriel to take away her sister's arm. Despite the united front, the rest of her sisters would go back to be separated. This was revealed to be One's plan. Seeing her sisters lose their sanity by tormenting the people under their rule, One would let Zero hunt down her siblings, not wishing to kill them herself due to their familial relationship.
For Route D, One confronts Zero outside the cathedral. One finally manages to gain the upper hand, using her song to create a barrier Zero can't penetrate. It takes an outside force, the time traveler known as Accord to sacrifice herself to give Zero enough time to stab One in the head. She then dies, giving a monstrous scream, the flower likely almost taking her over before her death.
❥ Revised Personality
❥ What experience challenged your character's core beliefs? How did they handle this or change from it?
Family is the other important thing to her, holding it above herself and the world.. So when her sisters choose to violate her rules, actively becoming worse lords through their greed and violent desires, she has a difficult choice to make. Her original goal at the start of her journey all the way back in the prequel manga was to overthrow the Lords and stop their cruelty. Lord Bass for example kidnapped children, took their skin, and used it to make several dolls and creations, all while hanging their parents through a noose outside of the castle if he was disturbed. Three in turn began taking people, even those loyal to her, and used them for experiments to create monsters. She would even create her own dolls from them, and willingly slaughter families to experiment on, admitting as much to her Disciple in her prequel DLC.
One had a choice to make: punish her sisters or let them run rampant. However, the only thing she did was bury herself in the library, trying to find some solution for the Intoners' issue and rid themselves of the flower, all to utter failure. When justice and family are now intersecting to become an issue, she refuses to pursue the faster solution of killing or even personally going to her sisters, choosing instead to let Zero hunt down her sisters since One doesn't want to be responsible for killing her family. Throughout every branch, she allows this to happen, never stepping in, and always waiting for Zero to come to her. Once, she was willing to save lives and protect people. Now, she was willing to damn them to whatever death her sisters had planned.
❥ What is a headcanon (or two) you feel strongly about and that you prefer playing your character with? How is this supported in canon and why do you think it benefits the character's story?
That One takes responsibility seriously, lets it consume her, and doesn't know how to trust others as a result. Throughout her short life both in the prequel manga and in the game, she had to take on a leadership role early, on top of being the big sister that her family needs. Not just to protect them from Zero, but to also help them emotionally. At least until they all part to rule the territory they gained. The lack of trust in others or even asking for help however hurts her in the long run, as she doesn’t want to burden them. The only two beings she really trusts with her vulnerable side are Gabriella, and her brother. Yet even with those two, Gabriella has to force her way past One to make decisions for herself, such as transforming into a Daemon Dragon when she believes One needs help to fight Zero. And as for her brother, while she is willing to let him in on her plans, she decides almost everything for him, to the point where he becomes reliant on her for nearly everything.
For the plot, it works to set her apart from Zero, that for all her willingness to try and reform the land, she can’t trust people. It strikes a similar chord to Shin Megami Tensei’s constant battle between Chaos and Law. Zero represents Chaos, valuing free will, but is violent, willing to kill just about anyone if they interfere with her, and not caring about the world. One on the other hand represents Law, wanting to gather everyone under her control since she doesn’t trust humanity, and have them follow her line of thinking. But to prevent people like the Lords from appearing again, she will wipe out their free will to do so.
❥ What would your character sacrifice to get what they want or to reach their potential? What have they sacrificed already?
For One, she's willing to sacrifice her very life if it means those she loves will be safe. During the events of the prequel manga, she's willing to put herself in harm's way multiple times. When the remaining three Lords had killed her sisters, a new enemy had managed to emerge, a mass of black darkness that took the remains of her family, and pieces them back together. However, it would use them like a puppet, using their powers to create chaos on the battlefield. One is broken, and it takes a while before she’s willing to fight back. She soon comes to the realization that with their bodies back together, there’s a chance, however small, that she could free them from the black mass. Gabriella tries to talk her out of it, saying they could retreat and plan things out, but One adamantly refuses, ready to risk her life against the strongest being she has met. And when trying to bring back Gabriella after she's overcome by a dark power, even after her body is cut up and smashed, she is willing to become a corrupted being to save the dragon. Despite the odds proving to be damn near impossible, she was able to reverse the damage. To save those she cares for, she sacrificed some of her individuality.
In the game however, her convictions have led to an issue with her morality, since she doesn't wish to go against her own feelings regarding family, especially against Zero, who has showed no love for her sisters. And in order to presumably wear down Zero, she's willing to throw the very soldiers that worship her, even use abominations her sister Three would use, to just slow Zero down. And yet she knows she's the only one who has the skill and weaponry to kill Zero.
❥ What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why?
Her friendship with Gabriella. Due to meeting her when she was alone in the prequel manga, separated from her sisters, One had less of a reason to keep putting on a brave front for herself. While she still did so, she also had time to breathe, time to spend not watching over her family and could finally socialize with someone. And when One was at her most vulnerable, she finally had someone who could protect her, or at the very least, trust when her body was worn down and she could no longer fight.
More importantly, despite witnessing the chaos her sisters caused, even partaking in it such as killing so many elves at the command of Four, to the point Gabriella calls it manslaughter and chastises Four, she never judges One once, nor does she ever betray her friend. One even admits as such, and is the only being she trusts with the knowledge of her brother clone. Even at the end of her DLC, One admits that she’s hoping by creating her brother, she might be able to take the burden off of Gabriella. Yet Gabriella retorts with a laugh, as if One could ever possibly be a burden to her. Despite having her wings once ripped off, teeth punched out, and even doing things she finds reprehensible, Gabriella remains steadfast and loyal. And even when transformed into the Daemon Dragon known as Gabriel, she never once betrays One, and looks at her fondly when she sees One dying in Branch A in the game, or when she breaks the Pact so One can live in Branch C in the game once she is killed by Mikhail.

OOC opt-outs: Open to just about anything, will mention in case things get a bit too dicey or something.
IC opt-outs: Also open to ideas, though I will admit, despite there being incest with her brother clone, I'm not really interested in playing a relationship with that due to my plans for One's character. I am however willing to go over and plot stuff out if it comes up, and am still interested in playing with a Brother One (particularly from his own manga despite how dark it is). I also won't gloss over what happened between them.
Content Warnings related to the character: Incest (for Brother One), depression, mutilation, violence and gore, murder/sororicide, sexual content, and suicide.
Sensitive subjects related to the character: Violence, murder, her own past, and her sister Zero. Still open to playing with those subjects though.

★ Character Information ★
Character Name: One
Character Canon: Drakengard 3
Canon Iteration: Original Canon
Character Age: 2; looks 15
Character Species: Intoner; still human in appearance
Backtagging: Totally open for that, might need a reminder every now and then if I go on for too long/get burned out. Willing to do threads for as long as possible. But if tags start taking once in every six months to happen, it might be best to drop it.
Fourth walling: Open to it, though expect One to be confused.
Thread hopping: With permission of course.
Content warnings and sensitive subjects: Open to a lot of things. I would say the only real warnings are for intense gore if it's sudden, or any harm to animals.
Anything else: Good with either brackets or prose.
Physical affection: Really not comfortable with it; her enhanced sense of touch might also make things a bit more awkward with strangers. However, if your character does manage to get in her good graces, One would be more open to it. Characters might be able to get away with a quick hug at least.
Romance: Welcomed, but expect a slow-burn as One deals with her own issues. Due to constantly pushing through her own stress and now adding guilt on top of it all, there are a few barriers that need to be taken down. Not open to casual flings.
Violence: Won't act unless someone else does. Given her canon, she's also prepared for taking as much as she can give.
Injuries: She might heal from it after some time, but not against it.
Death: With some discussion preferred, and you would need to either be a dragon, keep one around, or have weapons made from their materials to fully put her down for good. That said, she can still feel a lot of pain and get knocked out.
Telepathy and mind-reading: With permission; has no stated mental shielding from such things. Given how guarded she is already, if she finds people intruding on her mind without permission, she'll make it a priority to stay away from them.
Content warnings and sensitive subjects related to the character: ...Yeah, this is a character from a Yoko Taro game, and probably the one containing the most content warnings. But to list it off: incest, violence and gore, sororicide (or at least letting Zero do it), death, foul language, suicide, and sexual content.
Content warnings and sensitive subjects this character won't be involved in: Will update, but am willing to do just about anything.

Adult Form
In the Drakengard 3 manga Utahime Five, One was able to briefly attain an adult form, though loses it when making a pact with Gabriella to make sure her friend regained her sanity; making a Pact requires a personal sacrifice of the person. So I figured the form would be fun to toy around with and here is what it looks like with the aid of the artist ane. Please don't steal artwork. Might be more examples of said older form in the future for threads.

Opt-Out Post
This post is for anyone who may have issues with One's canon and may not wish to play with her. To sum up why, well, Yoko Taro, while known as a great writer for giving us dark and interesting stories, can also overdo them as well, such as with Drakengard 1 and 3; he didn't have much involvement in 2.
As such, if you read the info or heard secondhand from someone else, like Clemps' reviews which I do recommend, this is a open post for anyone to opt-out of any activity with One, or for anything specific involving her.
All comments will be screened.
